CEO Paul Newfield joins Prime Minister-convened forum as Morrison deepens bilateral investment partnership.
Global infrastructure investment manager Morrison has reinforced its commitment to Singapore and New Zealand’s deepening economic partnership, with Chief Executive Paul Newfield participating in the Singapore-New Zealand Leadership Forum today, convened by the Prime Ministers of Singapore and New Zealand.
New Zealand headquartered Morrison has facilitated NZ$1.8 billion in two-way investment flows with Singapore in the past year, underpinned by long-term infrastructure partnerships.
The Forum brought together senior business and government leaders to discuss trade, investment and regional growth opportunities, highlighting Singapore’s role as a strategic gateway for capital and infrastructure investment across Asia Pacific.
Morrison has continued to expand its footprint and investment activity in Singapore following participating in the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Trade Mission to Southeast Asia in 2024, including:
-
opening an expanded Singapore office, deepening its regional investment and operating capability;
-
supporting Singaporean capital with international infrastructure investment opportunities;
-
establishing Polaris, an Asia Pacific cold chain platform, following the acquisition of a Singapore based cold chain logistics provider; and
-
continuing the expansion of Gurīn Energy, the Singapore-headquartered renewable energy platform investing across Southeast Asia, including projects supporting Singapore’s clean energy ambitions. Gurīn Energy is owned by Infratil, an NZX- and ASX-listed infrastructure investment company managed by Morrison.
Morrison Chief Executive Paul Newfield said: “Singapore is a critical partner for New Zealand capital and a cornerstone of Morrison’s Asia Pacific strategy.
“As a global hub for long-term capital, Singapore enables Morrison to mobilise two-way investment between Singapore and New Zealand, working alongside governments and institutional investors to deliver infrastructure that supports economies and communities.
“Morrison’s participation in the Singapore-New Zealand Leadership Forum reflects the continued expansion of our presence in Asia and the importance of close collaboration between governments and long-term investors to deliver essential infrastructure.
“Many of the region’s most pressing challenges – including energy security and food security – can be supported by investment in infrastructure, and we are pleased to support closer collaboration between Singapore and New Zealand on these issues.”
The New Zealand Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Christopher Luxon said: “Singapore is one of New Zealand’s closest economic partners and an important gateway for New Zealand businesses and capital into Southeast Asia.
“Businesses operating across both countries, including Morrison, help translate this relationship into practical economic cooperation through trade, investment and infrastructure development. This kind of collaboration strengthens the foundations of the New Zealand–Singapore partnership and supports long‑term growth across the region.”
