Paul Newfield joins NZ Prime Minister's Mission to Southeast Asia

This week, New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon is travelling with a business delegation to Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. The purpose of his visit is to signal New Zealand’s commitment to deepening its international engagement, building new connections and renewing relationships with partners and customers in the world’s fifth biggest economy.

Accompanying the Prime Minister is Simon Watts, the New Zealand Climate Change Minister, reinforcing the priority for all the respective governments for cooperation on decarbonisation and the energy transition.

Morrison CEO Paul Newfield is participating in the Mission, reflecting the continued expansion of our firm’s presence in Asia.

Morrison has invested in Hong Kong and China for over a decade, and in 2021, Infratil Limited, which is managed by Morrison, established a renewable energy development platform headquartered in Singapore to focus on greenfield renewable projects across Asia. To date, Gurīn Energy has a total of 7GW of projects in various stages of development.

The following year, Morrison opened a Singapore office, recognising the increasing importance of the region as a source and destination for capital within the expanding infrastructure market.

We believe many of the world’s largest challenges, such as the energy transition, enabling and scaling artificial intelligence, and accommodating an ageing population, can be supported by investments in infrastructure. Our clients also recognise these investment opportunities can help their economies, their communities, and the planet.

We often work together with governments who may be constrained in their capacity to finance infrastructure investments themselves, but are still able to earn appropriate returns.

As one of the world’s longest standing specialist infrastructure investors, Morrison currently manages over USD 24 billion of assets under management.
