Experienced executive promoted as Morrison strengthens asset management leadership to meet global growth.
Morrison today announced that Rachel Drew has joined the Morrison Partnership, effective immediately. Rachel Drew was appointed Head of Asset Management in December 2024 after 18 years at Morrison.
Ms Drew's broad experience across the firm includes more than six years as an operating executive in a portfolio company, transitioning the management of Utilities Trust of Australia to Morrison and establishing Morrison’s UK office in 2018. She has been a Director on the Boards of a range of portfolio companies in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and is currently Chair of Wellington International Airport.
Partner and CEO Paul Newfield said Ms Drew’s promotion to the Morrison Partnership recognises the significant value she brings to the organisation.
“Rachel's partnership is incredibly well deserved,” Mr Newfield said.
“She has demonstrated great versatility and performed a number of critical roles in her career within the firm and delivered exceptional value for our portfolio companies and investors along the way.
“Rachel is one of our most well-rounded leaders, and I know her depth of experience across the business and our portfolio companies will continue to deliver significant value as a Partner.”
Reflecting on her appointment, Ms Drew said her promotion to Partner reflects the wider value the firm places on asset management capability.
“I’ve always had a passion for how we get the best out of assets we own, so this appointment recognises the importance of doing that well, and everyone who plays a part in this process.
“There are always opportunities that emerge at Morrison, and I’m grateful for the varied experiences I’ve had which have focused me on delivering my best.”
Ms Drew was recruited to the firm by Morrison’s founder, Lloyd Morrison in 2006. She was drawn to the firm by Lloyd’s values and vision to support the economic development of New Zealand.
“I’m proud to be part of a firm that lives the values of our founder, Lloyd Morrison, which extends to how we work so closely with our portfolio companies. We look to the future and work as whānau, which extends to our asset management philosophy.
“Morrison has always prided itself on delivering amazing outcomes. Lloyd challenged us to deliver the extraordinary, and I really believe that doing my best to live that, and asking the right questions is a big part of my success.”
Rachel Drew began her career at Boston Consulting Group, where she worked in both Amsterdam and Auckland on a range of strategy issues. She was also a strategic adviser at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise where she chaired the Regional Partnership Programme. Ms Drew holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cambridge, UK and a Master of Engineering from the University of Auckland. Outside of work, she competes internationally in mountain bike orienteering and enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
