Morrison expands Asia footprint with new team based in Singapore

Morrison has extended its presence in Asia by opening a Singapore office. Nicole Walker, Morrison’s Chief Commercial Officer, has relocated from Sydney to establish the regional base.

Paul Newfield, CEO of Morrison & Co, said, "We’re excited to be expanding our presence in Asia. We have been in Hong Kong and China for over a decade and last year we established Gurīn Energy through our listed fund, Infratil, to invest in the fast-growing Asian renewable energy sector.  The opening of our Singapore office is a recognition of the increasing importance of this region as both a source and a destination for capital within the global infrastructure market."

Nicole Walker leads the firm's global client activities and said, "Morrison & Co follows key investment themes and has built deep knowledge and operating experience in sectors covering renewable energy, data infrastructure, healthcare, and social infrastructure, which are of great interest to global investors.

"Our Asian-based team will cater to the accelerating demand for attractive infrastructure investments from our growing client base. We are looking forward to evaluating the landscape in this significant and dynamic region."

Demand for infrastructure investment has risen as the asset class continues to evolve, increasingly recognized as offering investors access to major global investment themes with lower volatility and multi-decade growth profiles.

Jason Boyes, CEO of Infratil Ltd, the listed infrastructure platform managed by Morrison & Co, added, "When we established the Gurīn Energy renewables platform, we chose to partner with an experienced management team, which enabled us to combine their regional and local knowledge with our sector expertise, capital and global reach. We are very pleased with the early progress we are making, and the impact we can have in addressing the enormous and rising demand for renewable energy in this region."

Jonty Palmer, Director of Energy Operations, has relocated from London to support the firm’s growing Asian renewable energy development platform.

Morrison & Co manages Infratil Ltd and the Utilities Trust of Australia, two of the world's first infrastructure funds, as well as other large infrastructure funds and multiple private mandates.
